They are still married and living happily together in their home in North Carolina, but not all is well in the Carter family.<\/p>\n<p>The Carter family previously announced that Jimmy Carter is in hospice care at his home. This is a type of in-home health care that is usually considered an end of life type of care that focuses more on keeping the patient comfortable than trying to heal them from something.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-20\"><\/div>\n<p>Now, there\u2019s more sad news in the Carter family. The family has announced that Rosalynn Carter has received her own diagnosis. The 95-year-old former first lady has been diagnosed with dementia.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-14637\" src=\"https:\/\/recipmo.com\/wp-content\/webp-express\/webp-images\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image.png.webp\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Some find this ironic considering she spent much of her life advocating for people with mental illness.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-21\"><\/div>\n<p>A statement released by the Carter family stays upbeat about the diagnosis explaining that despite her diagnosis, Rosalynn \u201ccontinues to live happily at home with her husband, enjoying spring in Plains and visits with loved ones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement also explains Mrs. Carter\u2019s own view of life and \u201ccaregivers.\u201d The statement reads, \u201cMrs. Carter often noted that there are only four kinds of people in this world: those who have been caregivers; those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who will need caregivers.\u201d The statement ends, \u201cWe do not expect to comment further and ask for understanding for our family and for everyone across the country serving in a caregiver role.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-22\"><\/div>\n<p>Watch the video below to learn more about Rosalynn Carter\u2019s diagnosis and an update on Jimmy Carter\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hVTsgPxXsu4\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\" data-origwidth=\"560\" data-origheight=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter have been married for 77 years.
