Assuming the primary continues on its current trajectory, he will owe his nomination to no particular party faction; that means there\u2019s no significant bloc of intraparty opposition that he must appease the way conservative evangelicals needed to be placated with Mike Pence.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTrump also has to think about his legacy. Since he\u2019s limited to two terms, his veep will be the prohibitive front-runner in 2028 if Republicans win,\u201d the column continued. \u201cEven if they don\u2019t take back the White House, the vice presidential choice is Trump\u2019s best opportunity to designate a successor not only as party leader but as the chieftain of the MAGA movement.\u201d<\/p>\n
The former president has made several comments about potential running mates, but he has yet to make a hard-and-fast determination.<\/p>\n
Still, there has been much speculation regarding who he will choose.<\/p>\n
A noted Republican senator dropped a big hint during a Newsmax TV interview on Friday that Trump will likely pick him as his running mate and eventual vice president.<\/p>\n
\u201cSenator, I would love to moderate a debate with you, but I have a hunch that there might be a vice presidential debate,\u201d said host Eric Bolling. \u201cMaybe Kamala Harris will be debating Senator Tim Scott on that one, and I would be honored to moderate that one.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you\u2019re the guy moderating, maybe I\u2019ll be talking to you,\u201d Scott responded. \u201cWe\u2019ll see what happens\u2026 but we need a new president. And that\u2019s Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd a new vice president, and is it you?\u201d Bolling followed up.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have to wait and see,\u201d Scott, who ran for the 2024 GOP nomination but quickly endorsed Trump after the South Carolina Republican dropped out, replied.<\/p>\n
