The unlikely pair first became friends when they starred opposite each other in the 2005 film Monster-in-Law. Since then they have remained close. So close that Lopez tapped Fonda to appear in her new documentary:\u00a0This Is Me Now: A Love Story<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In the film, Fonda shares two concerns she has with the husband and wife team.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want you to know that I don\u2019t entirely know why, but I feel invested in you and Ben, and I really want this to work,\u201d Fonda explained to Lopez, according to\u00a0Variety. \u201cHowever, this is my concern. Like, it feels too much like you\u2019re trying to prove something instead of just living it. You know, every other photograph is the two of you kissing and the two of you hugging.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s just us living our life,\u201d Lopez replied, laughing off the comment.<\/p>\n

Fonda also expressed her concern after seeing photos of Affleck at the 2023 Grammys, saying she was \u201creal scared.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI got real scared, you know, with all that s-it about the Grammys and he looks unhappy and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, my God, what\u2019s happening.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Lopez assured Fonda \u201cnothing\u201d was wrong with her relationship, Affleck was simply \u201clike, \u2018I\u2019ve become the symbol of the beleaguered man.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite her critiques, Fonda added she believed \u201ceveryone in the entire world is pulling for this relationship and this love,\u201d adding that the way the couple presents their relationship is \u201cso important.\u201d<\/p>\n
