{"id":13604,"date":"2024-07-07T14:47:01","date_gmt":"2024-07-07T14:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsx48.info\/?p=13604"},"modified":"2024-07-07T14:47:01","modified_gmt":"2024-07-07T14:47:01","slug":"13604","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsx48.info\/?p=13604","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>John Savident, who played Corinth Street, died at the age of 86.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, it said, \u201cWe are sad to say that actor John Savident has died.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In reference to his famous line, one sad fan wrote, \u201cMay he rest in peace, I say may he rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Cobbles pay moving tribute to a much-loved star<br dir=\"ltr\" \/>In a statement shared on its social media pages, Coronation Street said that everyone on the show was saddened by the death of Savident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone at Coronation Street is very sad to hear about the death of John Savident,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Fred Elliott, John solidified his place among the greats of Coronation Street.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis perfect comedic timing and deep emotional depth from being a great actor made Fred an unforgettable, iconic character that brought a lot of joy to viewers for many years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The last time John Savident was on TV<br dir=\"ltr\" \/>John Savident, a legend on Coronation Street, played his last TV role on a rival BBC soap opera.<\/p>\n<p>Savident\u2019s last TV appearance was in a guest role on the BBC medical drama Holby City. He was best known for his role as Fred Elliott on the show Corrie.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2012, he was a guest on the show and played Rupert Popal.<\/p>\n<p>His character was a smart older man who got hurt in a car accident and went to the Holby City hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Rupert couldn\u2019t remember that he had hit someone on the road.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/tearsoffaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/4-20.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"260\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>This then becomes a problem as the staff tries to figure out what happened with John\u2019s character Rupert.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">But Savident was killed off the show before he could keep playing Fred Elliott on Corrie.<br dir=\"ltr\" \/>Fred Elliott, played by John Savident, was killed off in 2006 because he wanted to spend more time with his family.<\/p>\n<p>Savident said that he tried to work out a deal with the people in charge of Corrie so that he could have some free time, but he was shocked when they told him to leave.<\/p>\n<p>He first said, \u201cI did think they might be able to find a way to work with me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was honestly shocked and let down that they didn\u2019t put in a little more effort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201eIf they had made things easier for me by letting Fred give up either The Rovers or the butcher shop, I probably would have stayed, but they never gave me that choice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I just served out my notice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Corrie fans are heartbroken<br dir=\"ltr\" \/>Facebook users who liked John Savident were sad about the death of a soap opera star.<\/p>\n<p>On X (formerly Twitter), someone wrote in the Fred style, \u201cSorry to hear, I say sorry to hear Fred was a legendary, funny character character RIP.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod bless you, John Savident,\u201d said another fan. \u201cOne of the best characters in Corrie, a true classic that will never be forgotten, and a wonderful actor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another person said, \u201cSaddened to hear of the death of John Savident, who played Fred Elliott, Corrie\u2019s strange butcher.\u201d I think Fred was the most classic #Corrie character, and people will remember him for years to come.
