Matt Sooter of Arkansas shot the photo of his 4-year-old daughter Adalynn \u201cAddy,\u201d who has a rare form of cancer.<\/p>\n
\u201cA little boy should not have to say goodbye to his partner in crime, his play mate, his best friend, his little sister,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
Over 8,000 people commented on the heartbreaking photo. The parents are now working to raise awareness about this rare disorder.When the Sooter family learned in November 2016 that their daughter had Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare tumor that begins in the brainstem, their world was flipped upside down.<\/p>\n
Addy would have to live with the developing tumor for a another 18 months until her symptoms worsened.<\/p>\n

Matt described his four-year-old daughter\u2019s rapid decline in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n
\u201cAddy\u2019s symptoms have worsened over the last day and a half.\u201d She awoke yesterday as her feisty, playful self. While we still visit our baby on occasion, she can no longer eat or swallow without trouble, and she is now sleeping most of the time, so we have admitted her to inpatient care. \u201cShe probably doesn\u2019t have much time left,\u201d he remarked on Facebook.<\/p>\n

Big brother was reluctant to abandon his sister.<\/h2>\n
He encouraged any friends and family who wanted to say a final farewell to their darling daughter to contact them in a very emotional and sorrowful message.<\/p>\n
Matt also requested prayers for big brother Jackson, who refused to leave his sister\u2019s side.<\/p>\n
She died not long after Jackson had bid goodnight to his little sister and told her he loved her.<\/p>\n
\u2018Sweet child enjoyed assisting others.\u2019<\/h2>\n
The family revealed their daughter\u2019s death just hours later in a post on the Facebook page Hope for Addy Joy \u2013 Fighting DIPG.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe transitioned from this life to the next in the same way she had lived: stubbornly but peacefully, surrounded by family.\u201d \u201cAt the end, she was not in any pain,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile this is only goodbye for now we miss our baby girl terribly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Addy\u2019s tumors, both brain and spine, were donated to scientific study in the \u201chopes of saving future children from a similar fate.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOur sweet girl loved helping people and giving gifts so we thought this would be an excellent way of showing her giving heart,\u201d they stated on their Facebook page.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve all known someone who has been touched by this terrible disease, but it\u2019s especially sad when it impacts youngsters.<\/p>\n
