\u201cWhat was the wrongdoing? Alright, number one, it\u2019s $130,000 to a porn star to keep her quiet, to try to protect your campaign. Can we at least agree that\u2019s wrong?\u201d Abrams replied.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow was it wrong?\u201d Kelly pressed. \u201cI don\u2019t know what kind of weird marriage these two have. Same as I didn\u2019t know what kind of weird marriage Bill and Hillary Clinton had. So I don\u2019t know what their covenant is in terms of what he\u2019s allowed to do on the outside of his marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n
But Abrams responded by saying that this was not about the alleged sexual encounter between Trump and adult film actress Stormy Daniels.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not talking about the sex. I\u2019m talking about the $130,000 to keep [Stormy Daniels] quiet to protect his campaign,\u201d Abrams said.<\/p>\n
But again, Kelly insisted the payoff wasn\u2019t illegal, as the Southern District of New York, District Attorney Alvin Bragg\u2019s predecessor, and the Federal Elections Commission all previously found.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not immoral,\u201d Kelly said. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing wrong with that at all. Nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Abrams then shifted to the accusation that Trump falsified business records. \u201cYou don\u2019t think he falsified business records either?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know what he did,\u201d Kelly countered.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat does that mean?! We just had a whole trial! We heard every detail of this! How can you not know?\u201d Abrams blasted.<\/p>\n
The former Fox News host then argued that any payoff could \u201ceasily\u201d be considered \u201ca legal expense.\u201d She went on to say that there\u2019s \u201cnothing illegal about paying hush money for an NDA.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s not, but when you\u2019re doing it to protect your campaign, it is. That\u2019s the difference,\u201d Abrams said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat law are you citing, Dan?\u201d Kelly demanded to know, leading the host to respond: \u201cCampaign finance laws!\u201d<\/p>\n
Wrong! You don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talking about! You\u2019re wrong!\u201d Kelly shot back.<\/p>\n
\u201cExplain to me then. Tell me what I\u2019m getting wrong,\u201d Abrams said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt does not amount to a campaign contribution if it is the kind of payment that could ever be made outside of the campaign context,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
