But once the homeless man entered the vehicle, he started attacking Harkness.<\/p>\n<p>He was hitting him and scratching his face like a lunatic. She was legally carrying a firearm and rushed toward the sergeant.<\/p>\n<p>She fired one shot and the homeless man started running, but with the second shot she hit the suspect.<\/p>\n<p>Randy Harkness was so glad that there was someone at the scene to help him and risk their life to save him.<\/p>\n<p>The Dawson County Sheriff called the woman a hero.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI TRULY BELIEVE THAT SHE\u2019S A HERO,\u201d SHERIFF JEFF JOHNSON TOLD FOX 5 ATLANTA. \u201cI BELIEVE THAT SHE POTENTIALLY SAVED THIS OFFICER\u2019S LIFE. WE DON\u2019T KNOW HOW FAR THE SUSPECT WOULD HAVE WENT WITH THE ASSAULT.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The woman acted and helped a police officer that was hurt, and was possibly going to end up worse.
