Around 3 a.m. local time on New Year\u2019s Eve, a car crashed into a crowd in New Orleans, killing at least ten people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to police, a car allegedly crashed into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, resulting in a mass casualty catastrophe.<\/p>\n

When the tragedy happened, the neighborhood was probably crowded with visitors and people enjoying the new year.<\/p>\n

In a statement online, the City of New Orleans said:\u00a0\u201cThe 8th District is currently working a mass casualty incident involving a vehicle that drove into a large crowd on Canal and Bourbon Street.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cInitial reports indicate that a car may have crashed into a group of people,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0a representative for the New Orleans Police Department told CBS News. Deaths have been reported, but injuries are unclear.<\/p>\n

According to witnesses who spoke to\u00a0CBS News<\/a>, a truck crashed into a crowd before the driver got out and brandished a weapon.<\/p>\n

Then there were reports of gunfire coming from the area.<\/p>\n
