The otherworldly Elrod House was designed by architect John Lautner for interior designer Arthur Elrod. You can see it here, almost hidden on a craggy Californian hilltop,\u00a0in\u00a0\u00a0Diamonds are Forever<\/span><\/a><\/em>\u00a0\u2013 a\u00a0\u00a0Sean Connery<\/span><\/a>\u00a0classic from 1971.<\/p>\n

Built in 1968, the luxurious\u00a0concrete residence<\/a>\u00a0with its conical dome is perched on a hillside a mile outside of Palm Springs \u2013 the perfect viewpoint for Blofeld\u2019s stooges to spot an incoming Bond.<\/p>\n

Beneath the iconic dome, a dramatic 60-foot circular living room oozes elegance and style, with a black herringbone floor and atmospheric rock formations that come right into the room.<\/p>\n

Swathes of glass frame sweeping views of the breathtaking valley below \u2013 as we can see from this scene in which Bond attempts to fight off two of Blofeld\u2019s henchwomen.<\/p>\n

Bond was less than impressed at being thrown into the pool, but we\u2019d love to take a dip in the circular structure \u2013 particularly with that incredible view!<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, there are five bedrooms and a separate guest house, so there\u2019s ample space to host sophisticated soirees.<\/p>\n

Back in 1971, Connery was snapped between takes relaxing in the home\u2019s iconic living room. He\u2019s sitting in a classic 1969\u00a0Gaetano Pesce \u2018Up\u2019 chair.<\/p>\n

These days there\u2019s\u00a0a state-of-the-art gym adjacent to the main living space, which leads out onto a concrete terrace\u00a0flanked by palm trees. We can\u2019t imagine a more idyllic place to work out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
