Daniel Radcliffe, who played\u00a0Harry Potter, and Emma Watson, who was Hermione Granger, seemingly had a wonderful relationship with Rowling, who wrote the characters they brought to life on the screen. But things might have become strained between them lately.<\/p>\n

Rowling seems to have expressed her dissatisfaction with the two actors recently. On X (formerly known as Twitter) she wrote a thread for the long-awaited Cass Review. The review was by Dr. Hilary Cass, a pediatrician who was analyzing gender identity services for minors in the UK. The findings\u00a0said\u00a0that there was a \u201clack of high-quality research\u201d on the effects of puberty blockers on children.<\/p>\n

Following the review\u2019s publication, Rowling took to X to express her anger over what she referred to as \u201csevere medical malpractice.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if you don\u2019t feel ashamed of cheerleading for what now looks like severe medical malpractice, even if you don\u2019t want to accept that you might have been wrong, where\u2019s your sense of self-preservation? The bandwagon you hopped on so gladly is hurtling towards a cliff,\u201d she\u00a0wrote\u00a0earlier this week.<\/p>\n

She went on in her posts, writing, \u201cIf I sound angry, it\u2019s because I\u2019m bloody angry. I read Cass this morning and my anger\u2019s been mounting all day. Kids have been irreversibly harmed, and thousands are complicit, not just medics, but the celebrity mouthpieces, unquestioning media and cynical corporations.\u201d<\/p>\n

While she had not named celebrities especially, her pointed remarks toward Emma and Dan came after a follower sent her a tweet saying, \u201cJust waiting for Dan and Emma to give you a very public apology \u2026 safe in the knowledge that you will forgive them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The author responded to the tweet and in doing so, directly addressed the stars in question. She said, \u201cNot safe, I\u2019m afraid.\u201d She went on, writing, \u201cCelebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women\u2019s hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies for traumatised detransitioners and vulnerable women reliant on single sex spaces.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2020, when Rowling was involved in major headlines for her controversial comments on transgender people, both Radcliffe and Watson made statements. The entire event started because Rowling retweeted an op-ed piece where she had an issue with the article using the term \u201cpeople who menstruate\u201d instead of using the word \u201cwomen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018People who menstruate.\u2019 I\u2019m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?\u201d she tweeted.<\/p>\n
