Swing dancing is a style of partner dance that originated in African American communities in the United States in the late 1920s and early 1930s. It was heavily influenced by jazz music and other dance forms, including the Charleston and the Lindy Hop. It quickly became popular across the U.S. and around the world, particularly during the 30s and 40s, when big band swing music was at the height of its popularity.
