“The 39-year-old Vance is the youngest vice presidential pick since Dwight D. Eisenhower made Richard Nixon his running mate in 1952.  Seventy-five percent (75%) of Republican voters approve of Vance as their party’s VP choice, including 52% who Strongly Approve. Vance also gets approval from 30% of Democrats and 48% of voters not affiliated with either major party,” the report said.

“The survey of 995 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on July 15-16, 2024 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.

“Fifty-two percent (52%) of whites, 40% of black voters, 55% of Hispanics and 47% of other minorities approve of Vance as the Republican vice-presidential candidate,” it said.

Vance got the approval of 54 percent of men, 47 percent of women, 47 percent of voters under for 40 and 51 percent of those who were older in the survey.

“Fifty-two percent (52%) of self-identified conservative voters Strongly Approve of Vance as the GOP’s vice-presidential candidate, as do 17% of moderates and 13% of liberals,” the report said.

“The choice of Vance as Trump’s running mate is approved by 58% of government employees, 48% of private sector workers, 54% of entrepreneurs and 50% of retirees,” it said.

Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly reached out to Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and left a message of congratulations after being chosen as former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Politico reported, citing a Joe Biden campaign official.

The campaign official said that Harris has expressed “her hope that the two can meet in the vice presidential debate proposed by CBS News.”

Harris and Vance are expected to participate in a debate later this summer. The Biden campaign has agreed to a debate hosted by CBS, scheduled for July 23 or August 13. Meanwhile, the Trump campaign has not rejected the invitation, but has instead accepted an invite from Fox News for the vice presidential faceoff, Politico reported.

“What we know is that Donald Trump wants an enabler. He doesn’t want a governing partner. He doesn’t want another Mike Pence, and I think that is clear,” Harris told POLITICO of Trump’s vice president search last month. “The litmus test is, are they going to be absolutely loyal to Trump over country or their oath of office, or, frankly, the American people?”

“I’m planning on being at the CBS studios … in either July or August,” Harris said then. “And let’s see if the other side shows up. I’m ready to make the case — whoever he picks, no matter who it is.”

But the niceties did not last long.

Harris smeared Republican vice presidential nominee and Senator JD Vance (R-OH), accusing him of being “loyal only to Trump, not to our country.”

This comes just days after former President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. President Joe Biden and Harris called for the “temperature” to be lowered on the campaign trail, but she seems to be abandoning that in her latest attack on Vance and Trump.

“Hey, everyone. So Donald Trump has picked his new running mate, JD Vance. Trump looked for someone he knew would be a rubber stamp for his extreme agenda. And make no mistake, JD Vance will be loyal only to Trump, not to our country,” Harris said.

“And unlike Mike Pence, Vance said he would have carried out Trump’s plan to overturn the 2020 election. He supports a national abortion ban and voted against protecting IVF. And if elected, he will help implement the Extreme Project 2025 plan for a second Trump term, which would target critical programs like Headstart and Medicare,” Harris added.

Trump, meanwhile, has publicly disavowed portions of the plan and said he had nothing to do with its creation.
