Before switching to television in the middle of the 1970s and joining NBC’s King-TV in Seattle, Dobbs began his career at KBLU radio in Arizona. He was one of CNN’s first reporters, hosting the business news program Moneyline in 1980.

Due to controversy surrounding his coverage of illegal immigration, Dobbs departed CNN in 2009. He began hosting “Lou Dobbs Tonight” on Fox Business in 2010 and continued until its cancellation in 2021.

By calling Dobbs “an amazing businessman with a gift for broadcasting” and recognizing his important contributions to cable news, Fox News Media offered their condolences. Dobbs’s wife, Debi, and their six kids survive him.
