The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is grieving the loss of four deputies who passed away within a six-week period, leaving colleagues and the community in shock. Deputy Christina Kohler, 37, passed on March 13, just three days after the death of retired Deputy Maria Vasquez, 42. Their losses followed the February deaths of former Deputy Nguyen, 58, and retired Deputy William Bozeman. Each passing has been deeply felt by both the department and the families they leave behind.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez offered condolences to the families and emphasized the importance of supporting one another during such painful times. Law enforcement personnel often face heavy workloads, stress, and exposure to difficult situations, all of which can take a toll on overall health. Experts note that public safety officers are at a higher risk for mental health challenges, highlighting the need for ongoing awareness and support.
