Eventually, I couldn’t take it anymore. I called a technician to just break the wall and find the problem. He came, listened to me, and began removing the drywall. As soon as he opened the right section, we immediately saw something horrifying… The dog wasn’t wrong! Continuation in the first comment
As soon as he opened it up, a strong smell of burning came from the wall.
“Stop! Don’t touch anything,” he said sharply and grabbed a flashlight.
What we saw was unexpected: behind the drywall was old, blackened wiring. The insulation had almost completely burned off, and in some places the metal was already exposed.
One of the wires was sparking.
“You were incredibly lucky,” the technician said. “A little more time and your house could have caught fire.”
Later he explained that it was old aluminum wiring that hadn’t been replaced during the last renovation. Someone had simply covered the dangerous spot with drywall to avoid the cost.
Bonya had sensed the burning smell — and maybe even heard faint crackling sounds that I didn’t notice.
After the wiring was replaced and the entire electrical system checked, I was finally able to sleep peacefully again. But most importantly — I realized that my dog isn’t just a loyal friend. She’s my true guardian angel.
