When she regained consciousness, her head was resting on the thick fur of a huge gray wolf. Around her stood an entire pack — nine animals had formed a tight circle around the pregnant woman, shielding her from the wind and snow.
The wolves did not growl, they did not attack. They simply stood guard in silence, as if they understood that before them lay a defenseless life — and not just one.
An hour later, a car happened to drive along that road. The driver noticed a mound of snow, inside of which lay a woman surrounded by wild animals. As he approached, the pack calmly dispersed, as if it had completed its mission.
Mary was taken to the hospital. The doctors said: a little longer, and she and her child would have frozen to death. But thanks to the wolves, the pregnant woman survived.
