Michael said he’d always loved the country classic, “Help Me Make It Through The Night.” The song was originally written and recorded by Kris Kristofferson in 1970 but it was Sammi Smith’s recording later that year that is the best known. Michael said his version needed to be a duet and he wasn’t sure who the right partner would be. While watching the movie The Greatest Showman, he heard a voice that had been dubbed for one of the actresses and realized it was the one he wanted for his duet.

The woman was Loren Allred, who did a fantastic job on this duet and then went on to earn her fair share of fame and recognition afterward on her own. She has appeared on both The Voice and America’s Got Talent, and she accompanied Andrea Bocelli on his 2021 tour.
