Instructions:
Prepare the Crust:
Place the Nutter Butter bars in a blender or food processor and blend until crumbled. Alternatively, place the cookies in a gallon zippered plastic bag and crush them into fine crumbs.
Reserve half a cup of cookie crumbs for later use.
In a medium bowl, combine the remaining cookie crumbs with melted butter.
Press the mixture into the bottom and sides of a greased 9-inch pie pan.
Prepare the Filling:
In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, 1 cup of peanut butter, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer.
Fold in the frozen whipped topping or whipped cream until well combined.
Assemble the Pie:
Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust and spread it evenly.
Top with a thin layer of whipped cream, smoothing the top of the pie with a rubber spatula or offset knife.
Add Toppings:
Heat the remaining peanut butter in the microwave for about 20 seconds until slightly softened.
Drizzle the softened peanut butter over the top of the pie.
Optionally, garnish with dollops of whipped topping and sprinkle the reserved cookie crumbs around the edges.
Chill the Pie:
Place the pie in the refrigerator and chill for at least 6 hours, or until set.
